Not only is Thanksgiving super delicious, but it's also very stressful. Between the cooking, cleaning and setting up, Thanksgiving can be more than just a big feast. However I think I have a few ideas on how to help you make Thanksgiving a whole lot less stressful, and a bit more filling.
Use Aluminum 1-time containers Yes, yes I know what you're thinking. More $$$$, but I guarantee that you'll save more time and stress. 1 time use containers are very helpful because it limits on the amount of dishes you'll have. Trust me, sometimes the littlest things make a hug impact Use Plastic/Silicone Cookware Using plastic or silicone cookware may help with the cleanup a little bit. Silicone cookware especially tends to be very easy to wash off. Just running some water right over and then wiping it with a soapy towel may help save you time, instead of scrubbing those typical metal cookware items. Try Brining! If you don't usually brine your turkey the night before. You're missing out my friend. Not only is brining delicious, but it's also a time saver. Making a brine is super easy and with the right recipe it's super delicious. Brining a turkey the night before will help you the next day. You can put your turkey in the oven early in the morning, take a nap, and make your side dishes. The best part about brining is that you can use a cooking bag. This means you don't have to get up every 15 minutes to baste your turkey. I hope some of these tips/cheats will help you and your family this year! Right before you grab that Egg McMuffin or that Breakfast Burrito, think about how you can help yourself (and your body by substitution). Instead of filling that sandwich with eggs, bacon, and cheese. Substitute! You can save up to about 290 calories by doing that. I suggest filling toasted whole wheat pieces of bread with egg whites, spinach, tomato and feta cheese for a healthy and filling sandwich. Also, for a different taste, you can take toasted white bread and fill two pieces with fresh mozzarella, pesto and tomato for a elegant filling taste.
Lunch time is the time of day where people typically tend to go all out or stop at McDonalds. I have a few ideas on what to pack that will save you time and calories.
These are just a few ideas on how to Substitute throughout your day. You don't even have follow the exact steps listed above. Get created, branch out and stretch out. Enjoy the day because I guarantee if you put good in, you'll get good out :) -The JEH Team |
